Best Maternity Poses for Maternity Photoshoot

Posing is key for your maternity photoshoot with Amy Doak Photography.

Whether we’re indoors or outdoors, there are tips to getting foolproof photos that will focus on your baby bump, but keep things interesting! Amy understands the difference between a decent photo and a stunning photo. As always, she’ll give you direction and make you feel comfortable, but if you want to practice before your photoshoot or plainly be more confident, keep reading!

Here are a few tips and tricks to study before your next maternity photoshoot with Amy Doak Photography.

Get Mom Alone – Mom is the STAR here! We want her to embrace her bump to create wonderful, tender moments to cherish forever.
1. Ask mom to rub her belly and take to her baby. Interaction between mom and baby will create authentic interactions and expressions for portraits.
Dads Gotta Get with the Belly – Dads get to have a little spotlight too! Have Dad (or kneel and get close to the belly with both hands on each side. Similar to mom, have him talk to and rub the belly for authentic expressions.
Including Other Children – Of course you want to include your other children (if you have them) from the very beginning with your new addition. Having children walking or playing, interacting with each other is so important and creates so really great memories!
Wardrobe is SO important to posing! We want to accentuate the bump! All maternity sessions include a styling consultation with Amy to discuss your best selection for all involved, which includes access to over 100 custom maternity gowns in her client closet!
Props and Accessories – These can be fun, but they need to be utilized correctly and Amy has years of experience to be sure your selected props are shown in their best light (with the belly of course)!
