Gavin | Buffalo Newborn Session

I was lucky enough to meet Gavin and his parents by chance. I was picking up my kids from preschool and happen to see sweet Gavin all cozied and nestled in his car seat. He was sound asleep even with all the noise and craziness that a preschool entails. I knew he would be such a great model! He did not prove me wrong! Gavin arrived to the studio with mom, dad and big sister in tow. Since Ava was in the same classroom as my youngest but just on opposite days, it worked out perfectly.

When doing newborn sessions with siblings, I like to photograph them first. I have found that kids have only a short attention span and will only give you so much before wanting to take off and okay with some toys! I sat Ava in front of the camera and asked her to give me some happy smiles. Ava happily obliged. She was a natural in front of the camera. Since I work with studio lighting, this gets older kids get accustomed to the flash and click that they would hear when my flash is triggered. Since she did such an awesome job and Gavin was still feeding, I wanted to have dad jump in for a few precious father-daughter pictures.

After eating, Gavin was ready to go! Fresh new diaper and some burping he was on his way to sleepytown. Or so I thought! Gavin gave me some of the most adorable wide eyed baby images, EVER! No tears, no crying but just taking in everything that was around him. It was so cute how big sister Ava was just loving on her new baby brother. After we did some sibling poses, we moved right along to family poses with all 4 of them! Everyone did so great and the kids were so well behaved! We moved on to some mom and baby shots, sweet Gavin all by himself and then we finished we some great father-son images.

As a newborn photographer, everyone has a different workflow that has been tried and tested throughout their career. If someone isn’t cooperating at the time, that’s ok! We just move on and come back to it when they are more settled down and happier. Each newborn session with Amy Doak Photography, I ensure that we get parent shots with your little one and I make sure to capture their adorable little details; like their toes, their nose and ears. I don’t just capture these things because they are cute or trendy, etc. I capture them because I want YOU to remember how teeny tiny your child once was. These incredible moments will seem like a lifetime ago, but ou will always be able to look back and smile and think “oh he was so tiny! His whole body was the size of my forearm! Now he’s running around, playing, learning, and not as dependent as he once was.” Or even just to think of how their entire foot seemed like it was made to fit into the palm of

your hand perfectly. Or how their entire hand held onto just your finger and it felt like the world was stopping spinning.

Ms Liz. | Buffalo Maternity Session

You may not know this about me…but I LOVE to dance! Whether it’s cleaning up around the house or having a spurs tic dance party in my car, I just love dancing. Plus it’s a good workout if you do it long enough!

About 2 years ago I found myself in a rut. I found myself not doing anything I actually enjoyed and it was just for me. So after a late night on Google, I found a dance school that offered adult dance classes, particularly hip hop. After a couple classes, I fell in love. The women there were (and still are) awesome. Little did I know that this particular dance school has an annual showcase that is performed at Shea’s theater. This is the same theater that Broadway musicals and plays are performed on. Needless to say I was extremely anxious. Though I have performed on stages while in band throughout my high school years, those days are long gone. After many months of practice, hard work and a few twisted ankles, our performance went as flawless as one could wish for. So during this last year of dance, I found out some awesome mamas that were expecting! I was so thrilled that Ms. Liz wanted to not only take some beautiful maternity shots but also to help me perfect my backlighting technique. This beautiful mama totally rocked her session and I was so happy with how the images turned out. her gorgeous olive skin and long black hair made such a beautiful contrast against the all white lighting. She is absolutely stunning and elegant. Thank you so much again Liz for entrusting your beautiful pregnancy memories to me 🙂

Evander | Buffalo Milestone Session | 9 Months | Grow With Me

I absolutely love coming to Glen Falls in Amherst, NY. From the sounds of the waterfall to the quacking of the ducks, it’s always a beautiful place to visit and even better when I get to photograph such an awesome family!

On the day of this session, it started out kind of a tad cooler than what I normally would have expected. I definitely needed a light sweater and always keep an extra one in my camera bag. I always highly encourage my clients to bring along several outfit changes for their family sessions with me. Mama Lex never fails to put together the most adorable outfits for her entire family. During our nearly year long adventure together, Mama Lex always has her family in the most stylish outfits for every session, which I absolutely LOVE! I always have such a hard time putting together outfit choices for my family. It doesn’t help matters when my boys (husband included) thinks anything that isn’t basketball shorts with sneakers is considered “fancy”. Can you see my struggle here? Do you share the same issues with your family?

Any who, I was so excited to see Evander again! I wanted to know if he started walking yet or standing up unassisted. On our shoot he had no problem pulling himself up onto my crate and standing. It was so awesome to see how much he has truly grown since I photographed him as a teeny, tiny, quiet newborn! Evander has become this awesome little man! He loves to laugh, smile and was extra curious/ confused when the ducks came around to play during our session. He makes the most hysterical faces and they usually come when his parents are sharing a sweet kiss with one another. I seriously have to make a meme, maybe I will post to my Instagram. Easy Peezy.

I sincerely enjoy the time that we get to spend together and I always leave our session with an even bigger smile on my face. Evander always makes me laugh and Mama Lex always has some story about Evander that makes me wish my kids were still little. I’m sure when you see those two little bottom teeth poking out with a huge gummy smile, your heart will just melt. I can’t decide whether toothless gummy smiles or the bottom chiclets are my favorite types of smiles in babies. If I had to pick though, I would say toothless gummy smiles are my favorite. You know what’s after this session?….

That’s right! Evander’s first birthday! I cannot believe this little guy has already been with me for a year! I might just shed some silent happy tears into my camera. Knowing that his Grow With Me Plan is slowly coming to an end makes me want to weepy into a bowl of ice cream (rocky road only please). But then again it makes me so incredibly happy and proud that his family has chosen me to photograph his entire first year.

Buffalo Newborn Photographer |Autumn

As a Buffalo newborn and family photographer, I am so honored that families entrust me with their most precious gifts, their children and their memories. I cannot image doing anything else. I am so thankful to have the most amazing job and even better clients.

Audrey and her beautiful family came to the studio to capture their addition to their family, Autumn. Autumn was 2 months old when she came to the studio! Now even though 2 months is not considered a newborn by photography standards, I pride myself in capturing every beautiful moment that a baby gives me. Autumn was super sleepy in the beginning of our session, which was awesome! I was able to capture her gorgeous eyelashes and face! As the session went along, Autumn slowly began to wake up. Which led us to capturing her beautiful family and sister images! Audrey was so happy when I showed her the images,she started to cry a little. Happy tears of course! Those are the best kind of tears!

Colson | 9 Months| Buffalo Milestone Session |Grow With Me

Colson is going to be ONE soon!

He returned for his 9 month session, which took place at the beautiful park of Glen Falls. I cannot believe how much he has grown up! He truly has become the handsome little man, whose so full of personality and giggles! I can’t wait to see him year up his birthday cake during his cake smash.

His adorable little shoes matched perfectly with his mamas! His outfit is just too cute for words! I
Love that his shirt always makes those baby blues pop even more than they already do.
