HOW LONG DO SESSIONS USUALLY LAST?
I tend not to put a time on my sessions. But typically, all sessions last between 1-1.5 hours, unless they are newborn sessions.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
The chance to show off your unique style and to add to the legacy that is/will be your family. Be comfortable and confident in what you wear. Keep it simple, keep it fun, and keep it you. These are your images that you will display on your wall. You have to be happy with what you are putting on display in your home. JUST BE YOU! Once upon booking, you will be sent a guide which includes a guide on what to wear for your photoshoot!
HOW LONG UNTIL I SEE MY PICTURES?
My typical turn around (for a full gallery of images) for a regular session is 2-3 weeks. Once your selection is made, it takes 1-2 weeks to process and ship, depending on your order. If you need prints done for an upcoming shower or event, please contact me so we can arrangements to get you the prints and images back faster, additional fee maybe applied.
WHERE WILL OUR SESSION TAKE PLACE?
Sessions can be done literally anywhere! From parks to the sandy beaches of Lake Erie to my indoor studio, it’s totally up to you! Baby sessions (under 6 months) take place in my home studio. For older babies and maternity sessions we can do either studio or outdoors. Most babies who are able to sit up or walk tend to like to be outside where there is a lot more room for them to move around and it is great for family shots. Outdoor sessions are held within 30 miles of zip code 14086. All locations further than this require a travel fee. Depending on what type of feel you’d like for your session (outdoor woodsy, field, urban/downtown), I can recommend a variety of great spots.
WHAT SHOULD I/WE WEAR?
When picking clothes, remember that simple is good. Go for the classic, avoiding trends that will make your photo look dated in six months. This doesn’t mean that everyone has to dress in the same colored shirt and jeans (which is totally fine if you do). You can get creative with it! You can pick individual pieces that go very well together when you stick to the same color palette.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO SHOOT?
From a photographer’s stand point, “The Golden hour” is the best time for us. The golden hour, sometimes called the “magic hour”, is roughly the first hour and half of light after sunrise, and the last hour and half of light before sunset, although the exact duration varies between seasons. During these times the sun is low in the sky, producing a soft, diffused light which is much more flattering than the harsh midday sun. Though the idea of waking that early doesn’t seem ideal, the images will be well worth it. If have a preference on either morning or evening let me know!
CAN I UPLOAD TO SOCIAL MEDIA WITHOUT THE WATERMARKS?
Photos may be uploaded to social networking sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or any other social media sites as long as credit is given to Amy Doak Photography and a link to my website is included.
I REALLY DON’T LIKE XYZ OF MY BODY, COULD YOU PHOTOSHOP FOR ME?
To be honest, probably not. There’s no Photoshop in real life! I have stretch marks and my “joey pooch”, and that’s ok because that is who I am, right now! My pictures are a representation of who you are and the person you are at this moment in time. I do fix some minor issues, such as acne scars, some teeth whitening (because we all want that Hollywood smile), and some very minor subtle changes; things that are only temporary. If you have any genuine concerns, please let me know prior to our shoot date. I will do my best to pose you in certain ways that either minimizes or eliminates your problem concern. We are our own worst critic; trust me I know all too well. Just know, that you don’t need Photoshop to show the inner beauty that you posses. Just be you and it will all translate on camera.
WHERE CAN I GET MY DIGITAL FILES PRINTED? DOES IT REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHERE?
Simply put, YES!! It makes a huge difference where you get your photos printed. Check out this blog below so you can SEE the difference of how much your photo can change depending on the lab you use.
